Austrian History

Many recipes and typical Austrian dishes or specialities in the country would have never existed without the multicultural exchange. They used to mix different cultures in the same dish and because of that, we should interpreted the Austrian food as a cultural route in the past.  

     Austrian dishes are indigeous but it is also a fusion of styles since the formation of Austro-Hungarian Empire. The dishes are influenced by Italy, Hungary, Bohemia, Germany and the Balkans.  

      Austro - Hungarian Empire was one state in Europe since 1867 to 1918 ruled by the House of Habsburg. The Compromise 

was between Hungarian nobility and Franz Joseph I of Austria. 

    Austro-Hungarian Empire was abolished with the end of the First World War. Nowadays, the Empire is divided in the following states: Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro; and the regions: Banat, Trentino (Italy), Tirol, Transylvania (Romania) and Galatia (Poland).and Ruthenia (Ukraine).
