CZECH FOOD AND AUSTRIAN FOOD
-> COMPARISON
Czech cuisine has both influenced and been influenced by the cuisines of surrounding countries. Many of the cakes and pastries that are popular in Central Europe originated within the Czech lands.
In Czech cuisine, thick soups and many kinds of sauces, both based on stewed or cooked vegetables and meats, often with cream, as well as baked meats with natural sauces, are popular dishes.

In Czech are usually eaten dumplings. In contrast to Austrian cuisine, Czech dumplings are made into larger rolls and sliced into smaller servings prior to consumption. Czech people eat rosted pork or duck with sauerkraut and dumplings or they eat beef sirloin with dumplings and vegetable cream sauce.
Czech desserts often originate from neighboring countries' specialties (particularly from Austria). You will thus find several typically Viennese cakes, but also pancakes stuffed with fresh fruit or jam and whipped cream or apple strudel.
Basically Czech and Austrian cuisine is very very similar but still there are some dishes fram Austria that are not cooked and eaten in Czech and other Czech dishes that are not eaten in Austria.
